Usually both eyes see the same image simultaneously but when each eye sees a different image how does the brain cope. A recent study suggests that this could well provide a diagnostic tool for bipolar disorder some time in the future. The time it takes to see the images one after the other (the perceptual flip rate) in bipolar individuals seems to be significantly different from the norm.
