Treating bipolar with homeopathy

The Homeopathic approach to Bipolar

Bipolar disease is a chronic disorder and quite disabling, not only mentally but socially too. The disease characterized by its recurrent manic and depressive episodes definitely takes its toll on the social life and the social interaction of the patient with others. The various symptoms like the mood swings and the manic attacks are all a part of the existence for a patient with the bipolar disease.

What exactly is meant by the term symptoms? Homeopathy considers symptoms as the outwardly manifested indications of the inwardly affected Vital Force. The Vital Force is the dynamic force which is an inherent part of any living being and is responsible for maintaining perfect harmony between the TRINITY of the Body, Mind and Soul in any human being.

When any disease strikes, it is the Vital Force which first bears the brunt of the attack. This attack by the disease is manifested outward in the form of symptoms. But what makes Homoeopathy unique is that it recognizes and acknowledges the fact that the attack by the same disease does not always elicit the same reaction from every human being. This uniqueness of every human being is called the individuality of the person and this individuality is the basis of disease diagnosis in Homoeopathy.

For instance, we may consider 2 people getting affected with flu. The overall group of symptoms may be same, like the sneezing, nasal discharge, body ache or fever. But on close observation it will be noted that the symptoms are quite unique in spite of being apparently similar. The first patient may have more of sneezing, and less of body ache. Or may be the first patient prefers lots of warm covers around his body while the second patient wants more hot drinks.

These tiny differences which are seemingly unimportant to the Allopathic physician, holds the key to the perfect homeopathic diagnosis of the diseases and the perfect choice of the corresponding homeopathic medicine for the patient. It goes without saying that the Homeopathic system of medicine does not believe in generalization of any disease or the treatment.

A homeopathic Case taking is a procedure which attempts to delve in to the mysteries of the working of the Vital Force. The Case taking of any patient with any disease is not limited to the noting down of the general symptoms, but also involves finding the minute details and peculiarities which are unique to the patient under consideration.

The Homeopathic medicines are administered to healthy humans for the process of being ‘proved’. It needs to be understood that when a healthy human is given a homeopathic medicine, the symptoms characteristic of that medicine are elicited in this person. These elicited symptoms are physical, mental and emotional. Proving of a homeopathic medicine involves collecting all the signs and symptoms observed.
